[PR] Industrial Rock band NUL. releasing 3rd full-length album AVA

NUL.—3rd full-length album ›AVA‹
NUL.—AVA (2024)
Five years after forming in 2019, the three-piece industrial rock band NUL. released their highly-anticipated third full-length album, AVA, in October 2024.

»I believe this album will allow you to enjoy a new NUL. sound while destroying the NUL. of the past.«HIZUMI, NUL.

Toning down the industrial aspects of their sound in favor of its rock and metal features, the three bandmates created a hard-hitting release that reflects the theme of aggression and destruction. AVA, derived from ›avalanche‹, crushes down on the listener with relentless force while also revealing moments of unexpected, soothing tunes.

NUL.—ARTIST PROFILE

Hailing from Tokyo, Japan, NUL. stands out with a distinctive sound shaped by the members’ illustrious musical backgrounds. After the disbandment of D’espairsRay in 2011, vocalist HIZUMI took a break from the music scene. However, he has asked programmer and producer Toshiyuki Kishi (abingdon boys school, etc.) and guitarist MASATO (defspiral) to form a new band, leading to the founding of NUL. on March 25, 2019.

Their band name ›NUL.‹, meaning ›zero‹, reflects musicians’ vision of creating the music they truly want, rather than what is expected of them. Free from limitations, the three musicians release their records independently with sound approaches unique to NUL.

NEW RELEASE: 3rd ALBUM ›AVA‹
Following the first two albums, TRIBRID ARCHIVE (2021) and EVILA (2022), NUL.’s third full-length album AVA has now been released. The album’s title ›AVA‹, derived from the word ›avalanche‹, pointedly captures the album’s intense theme of aggression and destruction. While playfully incorporating the theme, the palindrome ›AVA‹ adds a layer of symmetry, and its triangular shape not only links to the impression of a mountain ridge and symbolizes the band’s three-person dynamic. This album is a testament to NUL.’s evolution and growth, a journey that the audience has been a part of.
NUL. AVA Record Release Party

For their latest release, HIZUMI, Toshiyuki Kishi, and MASATO chose to emphasize the metal and rock characteristics of their music to highlight the album’s thematic impact and unleashing a new feeling of their sound. For the lyrics, HIZUMI repeated phrases, creating a powerful sense of coherence throughout the tracks. Joined by MASATO’s compelling guitar and Toshiyuki Kishi’s innovative programming, the new album features a vibrant rhythm section with MASATO recording bas lines alongside guest musicians: drummers HIROKI (D), Yuya Ishii, and Takuma Yoshioka, as well as bassist tmsw.

Listeners can look forward to a range of tracks that truly showcase NUL.’s versatility. From the confrontational energy of CRUMBLE or HYBRID BEAST to the infectious beats of DΦPE SHΦW and INFERNAL, as well as the the poignant melodies of GRAVITY and the reflective closing track THE LAST DAY, ›AVA delivers everything fans have come to love from NUL. while also charting an exciting new direction. The result is a cohesive and pervasive release that captures all the shades of NUL., albeit with a shorter runtime compared to their previous works.

»Five years have passed since our formation,« HIZUMI states, »and I believe that the creation of the record ›AVA‹ has further expanded our potential. Please look forward to the continued evolution of NUL.«HIZUMI, NUL.

AVA came out digitally on October 17 and on CD on October 25, coinciding with the tour final of their nation-wide 斑-MADARA- tour.
