Madmans Esprit will hold their – The world as collective reflections – Europe Tour this autumn with shows in Poland, the UK, France, Germany, Slovakia, and Italy. Madmans Esprit is a South Korean Black Metal band that has intense performances, strikingly contrasting the picture-perfect K-Pop scene South Korea is most known for. They started in 2010, yet after a few member changes, vocalist and frontman Kyuho decided to continue the band as a solo project. Now, on August 19th, 2024, they announced that the former support members Juho (guitar), Somyul (guitar), Geon (bass), and Limu (drums), who also recorded their own parts for upcoming releases, are now official full members of Madmans Esprit.
Kyuho describes their music as ›Depressive Suicidal Black Metal‹: Progressive and Death Metal with influences of Classical and Folk music with inspiration taken from bands like Shining (Sweden) and DIR EN GREY (Japan). The lyrics paint a very pessimistic picture of human mankind, life, and death, and seem very emotional at first, but if you look closely, there are a lot of political statements in there, mixed with philosophical thoughts. The songs are written in Korean, English, Japanese, and German. Visually, Madmans Esprit goes for dark Visual-kei outfits, often combined with accessories like razor blades and blood, and other dark imagery.
Madmans Esprit released three full-length album so far, called NACHT (2014), CONSCIENTIZATION OF UNCONSCIOUSNESS [무의식의 의식화] (2018), and naneun naleul tonghae ulileul boneun neoleul tonghae naleul bonda [나는 나를 통해 우리를 보는 너를 통해 나를 본다] (2022). The latest one won the Korean Music Award in the category Best Metal and Hardcore Album. Their latest single, 墜落 (Falling) was released in February 2024.
